Our current graphical scheduling tool is great when you have to make a few changes, but when it comes to making massive changes such as adjusting dates for a whole series or a group of titles, it becomes a bit cumbersome. We can do better. We are working on an 'endless' schedule concept (one where you don't have to previously select a period, but rather, you can move back or forward in time as much as you want without affecting performance) that will also include better scheduling tools (multiple selection of titles, wizard for common scheduling tasks), better zooming capabilities, undo function, etc.
We want to make the addition of thousands of titles via the browser blazingly fast. We want to kill excel. Also, we want to improve the process of adding episodes to a series so that it is not necessary to do it through an excel import.
Movida is really good at pointing out that you might be scheduling content outside of your rights window; it literally shouts it at loud to you in various ways. However, solving those conflicts is not always easy, especially when rights are complicated, when their availability windows are calculated, etc. It sometimes requires some investigation, which is not always very efficient or intuitive. We want Movida to tell our users not only that there is a problem, but to clearly outline what the problem is and what their options are to solve it. As part of this work, we want to improve the "Rights creation workflow" as well, to make it easier for Rights exec to fill in rights based on already scheduled titles.
Platforms in Movida are associated to a Sequence workflow template. Every time a scheduled title is sent to Sequence, the job is created there with the tasks defined on that platform. Sometimes, however, the workflow for a specific title might be slightly different, and it would be great if users can choose a different template from the ones available in Sequence.
To better exploit all the content rights stored within Movida, we will implement a reporting tool that will help our users work out what content they can schedule in which platforms, based on their rights. Based on those reports, VOD Editors will be able to directly schedule the content to match those rights. This will come in handy for new platforms that need to be filled in with content!
In order to support rights properly for stand-alone titles, we want to introduce the concept of "Content Deals". As part of a Content Deal users will be able to record the same rights for a number of titles or series. It will also be possible to upload documents and associate them to the content deals, such as the term sheets, avails lists or contracts.
Ability to Request assets from different content providers to a single email address
To avoid having to send excel exports all over the place, we plan on adding "Guests" functionality. It will be possible to add a guest account and define how much of the schedule they will be able to see (i.e. next 2 weeks, current month, specific platforms, etc.). Guests will receive their credentials via email, and will always be able to see an up to date view of the schedule for their platform, what has changed since the last time they logged in, they will be able to make comments for the Movida users to see as well as export the schedule
Ability to put jobs "on hold" in Sequence, so that they don't count as pending work without having to delete them
Catch-up & Archive Episodic Scheduling Mar. 2011Currently, you either schedule the whole series or you schedule episodes one by one. We are going to add the ability to create scheduling rules that allow the users to schedule by including or exclusing specific episodes or ranges of episodes. As part of this work, it will be necessary to modify rights creation as well, so that it is possible to create rights that apply only to a set of episodes. We will also enable setting "time" for Archive scheduling, and not just the "date"
Better support for Episode Numbers Jan. 2011Episode numbers in Movida were just metadata fields, but Movida was not taking full advantage of them until now
Single Sign-On Jan. 2011With the addition of our third product for Metadata, Single Sign On has become a priority. We are putting in place a new authentication mechanism based on the OAuth standard that will be used both to authenticate and authorize users that have access to more than one of our products, as well as to enable single sign on for API users.
Better support for 'Stand alone' titles 02/11/2010In its inception, Movida was built first and foremost to make it incredibly easy to Schedule content for VOD Catch-up content. We built it with TV programs in mind, but as we work towards making scheduling simpler and quicker not only for TV content but also for Films, Music, etc... it makes sense to differentiate between 'Series', 'Films', 'Concerts' etc.
Support for Asset Level Metadata 02/11/2010Ability to associate metadata fields at the asset level, such as compliance information or technical metadata
Rights (or Denied Rights) and Blackouts Editing 21/09/2010Currently, it is necessary to delete rights or blackouts and then re-create them in order to change their parameters. We will be adding the possibility to edit existing rights or blackouts for a given series.
Easy creation of Series 21/09/2010Currently, it is necessary to use the Excel title import functionality to create new series. We did this first because it is a great way to get started (when you have a massive amount of content to add to the system), but it is a bit cumbersome when you just want to add a season or two of the next hit show. With this functionality, adding a whole season or series through the browser will be a breeze.
